Upgrading RAM on Lenovo X200
Upgrading RAM on Lenovo X200
I upgraded the RAM on Lenovo X200 (745533A) from factory 2GB PC3-8500 to 4GB PC3-8500. Checked the BIOS and it recognized the new 4GB memory. The trouble is, after upgrading the RAM, the WiFi stopped working and so with the linked Access Connection! All other softwares are working except the wifi radio. Fn+F5 doesn't worked either. So I tried putting back the factory 2GB, and the WiFi worked back. I purchased the 4GB new and bought the same specs PC3-8500 1066 Mhz. I tried also putting a 2GB on slot-0 and 1GB on slot-1, and the wifi still worked. So what's wrong putting a 4??

Welcome to our forum!
There is actually nothing wrong with upgrading to 4 GB of RAM provided the second module is not faulty. For your piece of mind you might want to run a couple of passes of memtest86+ as you have added new memory to the system.
Now, I think what you have experienced is simply some bug in access connections handling "excessive" amounts of RAM. Reinstalling the wifi driver and then AC (with the additional RAM module attached) should fix your problem. Don´t forget to reboot between the installations.
Cheers,
Marin

Re: Upgrading RAM on Lenovo X200
Hi;
We did swap each new module to slot-0 and both new purchased RAM worked the wifi. It became faulty when putting the new 2GB to slot-1 that make the wifi radio not working. Do I have to upgrade the BIOS? But its already upgraded using Lenovo's system upgrade. Thanks..

Re: Upgrading RAM on Lenovo X200
You probably have the latest BIOS, but you can compare your BIOS version at Lenovo Driver Matrix (just pick your particular ThinkPad model).
Now, what I´m suggesting you to do is the following (it may or may not work, but IMO it is the simplest thing one can try out):
1. Uninstall Access Connections -> reboot (I believe you will be prompted to do so anyway)
2. Uninstall wifi driver -> shut down
3. Remove AC/battery
4. Add the second RAM module to slot 1.
5. Power on and boot
6. Install wifi driver -> reboot
7. Install Access Connections -> reboot
8. Now everything should be fine :sunshine:
Hope this helps
