IBM ThinkPad 560X RAM Upgrade

#1 Post by ThinkPad560X » Sat Mar 28, 2009 3:11 pm

Can I upgrade my IBM ThinkPad 560X to read 512MB or even a 1GB RAM? I think it takes PC-100 memory chips. Right now it has 96MB running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition and a 16GB Solid State hard Drive.

Also does anyone know how for partition my Drive to full 16GB? Its really 15.1GB but I had to install Windows 95 14 floppy set via External Floppy Drive because I don't have a CD-ROM Drive, and it only partition it 1.99GB and I upgraded to Windows XP Home Edition via Compact flash card and I have 3 diffrent partitions and I chose the largest I could get 11GB. How do I get the 4GB patitioned to my 11GB?

The TP560X uses EDO type RAM. PC100 (or PC66) is SDRAM and I'm pretty sure it won't work in the 560x. The biggest EDO laptop RAMs I have seen a 128 MB. I have one of those in my 560x and 560z machines. I run Puppy Linux on the 560x. I never tried Windows with the extra RAM.
