X23 with Windows 7. Wireless card problem

#1 Post by mad_maximo » Sat Mar 28, 2009 6:38 pm

Hello everyone,

I recently decided to try windows 7 beta on my X23. I am really pleased with he results as it is a lot snappier than Vista (wich i had installed before). I only have 2 problems, suspend option doesn't appear on the power management or start menu option (also Fn+F3 doesn't do anything), and wireless card also can't start working.

My card is an "IBM High rate Wireless LAN MiniPCI Combo card" and device manager gimes me an "Code 10 error: device cannot start". I am using an XP driver as i can't seem to find a Vista Driver for this card. This used to work in Vista although this very same problem occured on occasions, but i atributed the problem to overheating because if i left the pc off for a few hours it would start working.

So, i can live without the suspend option, but i really need the wireless lan. Does anyone have the vista driver for this or have some sort of workaround the problem?

Thanks in advance to everyone.

Daniel

P.S. There's no hardware problem as i have booted with a linux livecd and it works fine

Did you install the wireless driver in XP emulation mode? I'm told this works for some older video cards, and might work here as well.

You're my hero... :D

Incredible how something so simple has made me waste so much time. Thanks a lot!!! It simply worked after i set it to run as in XP SP2.

Now if i could add the suspend option to my machine, that would be great. Any suggestions?
