We just received a replacment dvd burner from Lenovo shipped from China like this (no plastic around the drive, no foam on all sides, etc.) just the unprotected drive stuffed vertically into a huge carton. We've never seen anything like this.
Is this the new "normal" Lenovo procedure? How sensitive are optical drives, since we're usually received them in sealed plastic with foam surrounding them on all sides? Is there risk of damage to the laser or other parts when shipped like this?
