Help: Step by Step Instructions on Custom Restore with R&R

I have to help my family member do a custom restore with Rescue and Recovery so that we can prevent cr*pware from being installed from the factory image. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to the hidden recover partition (thinkvantage button prior to boot up) on my personal X61s.

The computer is an X61s with factory restore from Vista Ultimate recovery CD.

If anyone can give me some steps to direct my family member over the phone, I would be grateful. It should take a minute to boot into RnR via Thinkvantage button.
