Question for HD benchmark/performance gurus (pic warning)
I just recently installed a new WD 500gb 2.5" as the main drive in my T61p. I usually do not care for HD benchmark results but I still ran HD tune. Can any knowledgeable person help me explain the numbers I see in the screen shot below? (Click on the picture to get to a higher resolution picture.) Do folks think these are high/low/average numbers for an internal 2.5" 5400 RPM drive? thx.

Re: Question for HD benchmark/performance gurus (pic warning)
I´m not a "benchmark guru", so I can´t give a detailed explanation of those numbers (I guess this is what you are actually looking for) but your results are really impressive, especially for a 5400rpm HD
FYI, it kicks the @$$ of my Seagate 7200.3...
A side note: From your pic it´s apparent that you have used the free HDTune version, which doesn´t include writing tests. Hence I´m pretty sure the first 3 numbers (max, min, average) are referring here to only read speeds. Reading the diagram one should be able to calculate say what time it takes for an instance of Photoshop to open a 500 MB file. Assuming HDTune is a very accurate benchmark tool, it´s even possible to make quite an exact calculation using the exact numbers on the curve (not just the average output).

You need to look at figures for a contemporary 2.5" 500GB 7200rpm drive before you can draw any reasonable comparision.Marin85 wrote:especially for a 5400rpm HD
