Booting from PCMCIA on 380ED ??

#1 Post by Agent24 » Thu Apr 02, 2009 6:40 pm

I notice that my 380ED has an option in BIOS/Boot Sequence to boot from PCMCIA. What kind of card is required to boot from?

I have an Adaptec APA-1460 SCSI card - would this work? I've already got a SCSI CD-RW drive so just need an external enclosure.

Would this allow me to boot from the SCSI CD-RW drive?

Hook it up, set the BIOS options and give it a try. You won't hurt anything doing so.

I tried adding it to the boot list but it would not add. Perhaps I need to hook up a drive first? I just need to find an enclosure somewhere first...

It might not work. I know IBM had some cards that were supported from booting. As far as I know, with third party cards, it's usually a miss but if you already have one, worth trying.
