T60 keyboard problem

#1 Post by Force21 » Sat Apr 04, 2009 8:04 pm

My keyboard developed a strange problem after I removed it to clean out some build up dust. After I reattached it, 2 columns of keys stopped working, 6YHN and 7UJM. I usually remove it in order to clean it as well as whatever dust is collected underneath the keyboard and this is the first time this problem popped up. The connector is seated properly. Is the keyboard dead now or perhaps a problem with the ribbon cable/connector? Thanks.

It's the ribbon cable. Either it is not seated correctly or it is defective. Check the connector at the systemboard too.

What did you do to clean it?

Nothing fancy... just a manual rocket blower to get the dust out.

The keyboard sends something like row and column information. Either the cable is loose, cable damaged or the matrix under the keys is damaged. Sorry I cannot be more specific or helpful.
