X41T Restore Disks

#1 Post by dwilsonfl » Tue Apr 07, 2009 3:40 pm

Been looking at Tablets on Ebay. I have a spare X40 HD and so I was thinking about buying one of those $175 ones that need a HD, cover and caddy, and pen. Never owned a tablet, have no idea what I'd do with it, but...

But I want tablet functionality so - are the tablet feature contained on the regular X40, X41 XP restore disks, or are there special restore disks for the tablet?

My coworker just got one of these systems from that guy- great shape (other than the missing bits)!
I'll probably grab one myself end of week- hard to pass up the price!

We've been running Win7 on it for tablet compatibility, but any build of TabletPC from other manufacturers should support the serials on the system.

A member in the family is a designer and been using Wacom pads with other Thinkpads. So she took to the Tablet naturally. All the missing bits cost more than the machine itself:

HDD cover, $20
60GB ZIF drive, $40
IDE-ZIF adapter, $10
Pen, $40
Recovery disk, free
Battery, $30
2GB RAM, $20
WiFi card, $20

So a $300 complete and running machine could be cheaper.

Unless you have a bunch of bits like I do, you're right.

But the law of incremental purchases in marriage states that more over time is more tolerable than less right now. :)

I thought I had all the bits and pieces too until I added it all up.
