Find wireless networks is disabled ?? wireless not working

I've tried installing as per thinkpad superguide's order of installing drivers but it's causing me a great deal of agony.

everytime i start access connections, it keeps telling me find wireless networks is disabled.

it appears that intel wireless or windows is controlling the wireless networks and wont allow access connections to manage it.

how do i remove this intel or windows' control over it and use access connections?
