trackpoint does not scoll

#1 Post by websterpoint » Wed Apr 08, 2009 5:58 pm

I just "upgraded" from XP to Vista on my T60 and now my "wheel" or middle button below the "B" key does not work so i can't "scroll" down a page in a doc. or a web page. I downloaded the Ultranav utility but that didn't help. I need that function back.

Thanks, Don

It works fine on my T61p. Did you upgrade in place (something I would never do) or do a fresh install from recovery CD's? Have you the newest UltraNav driver? Is your palmrest plugged in? (something done by a nameless person in this forum). ... JDH

A fresh recovery reload will leave the UltraNav working (always has for me). So I would download the correct UltraNav driver for your system and UltraNav utilities, uninstall the current ones (both) and install the ones downloaded (both). .... JDH

You need the UltraNav driver, not the UltraNav utility. After you download the driver, run it to extract it's contents to your hard drive, then run C:\Drivers\Win\UNAV\SETUP.EXE to install the driver itself (this is the directory for XP - I think the one for Vista is the same).

Also make sure you install the Lenovo System Interface driver which is needed for many things.

The reason I suggested both is that if the Touch Point is defective (unlikely), UltraNav will install but the utilities won't. It's a good check. If both install properly, chances are that it will all work. ... JDH

I wasn't trying to contradict you JD. I read the OP's initial post where he said that he installed the UltraNav utility, but he made no mention of the UltraNav drivers. It certainly shouldn't hurt to have both, but the drivers are the main thing.

Provided the UltraNav/synaptics driver is installed, but without the UltraNav utility, pressing Fn+F8 brings mouse properties (that´s for the record). From there -> UltraNav tab -> Trackpoint settings -> check "Scrolling"

Hey Gom - I knew what you were trying to say and it does not contradict me. I just wanted to clarify my reasoning for both. ... JDH

Great news and glad it worked. If this were Experts-Exchange, we would have gotten points :)
