Help: T41 takes very long time to wake up from hibernation

#1 Post by firstep » Fri Jan 28, 2005 1:13 pm

Hi, there. I recently have wake-up problem with my T41. It takes very long time to wake up from hibernation. I just guess it's power management problem, but have no idea about the specific reason. Anyone has any suggestions on this issue? Thank you so much.

is the machine "trying" to reconnect to a network?

It's likely. The indicator light of wireless was blinking at that time. So you think it's the reason? How to solve it?

BTW, I've tried to update to the latest wireless driver. However the problem insists.

it is recommended to disconnect your network connection before going into hibernation if you desire fast restart

The thing is, it worked fine before. The speed of wake-up from hibernation was fairly fast until recently the problem appeared.

Is there anyway to let the connection break itself when hibernating? I usually just close the lid and it will enter standby mode. After 30min, it switch to hibernate automatically under my power setting. So I don't want to disconnect it manually. A little bit hassel.

don't know of a way... maybe others do... otherwise you need to decide on which is worse.. the hassle or the delay..

Well, I just thought wireless might not be the evil thing. I will try anyway. But I expect there's another solution besides manual disconnection, even if it's wireless's fault.

Try defragmenting the hiberfil.sys, this might help
T61p, Win7

Same story here.
At some point I read some thread suggesting that this is happening after you install Firefox. If firefox windows are open it takes for ever, shut it down before you hibernate and it wakes up quickly -I was acutally able to confirm that. I wonder if it's the same thing in your case.

What I also noticed is that pretty much the longer the delay between hibernate - wake up the longer it takes to wake up. Try wake up after 5min vs. 1 day. Really strange ....

Really. I do have Firefox installed. But I didn't notice it's the reason. I will have a trial and report later. Thanks.
