T400 Hibernation Problem
T400 Hibernation Problem
The system won't hibernate. BIOS is up to date. Ideas?
Re: T400 Hibernation Problem
if the operating system is Vista run CMD as Admin (right click on command and run as Admin) and type in: powercfg-h onian12345 wrote:The system won't hibernate. BIOS is up to date. Ideas?
Also make sure power setting is NOT set to hybrid sleep ON. (press Windows button and type power to get to that menu)
Re: T400 Hibernation Problem
Can I have some more details on the second suggestion dealing with "hybrid sleep." I can't figure it out.

Please ignore me I figured it out.

1: press the windows key on your keyboard (the one that looks like it has a flag on it)ian12345 wrote:Can I have some more details on the second suggestion dealing with "hybrid sleep." I can't figure it out.
2: in the "start search field" type in the word, power
3: in the results area at the top you will see "power options" and a thing that looks like a green coffee pot.
4: left click that object
5: in the window that appears find the selection that has a black dot in it.
6: left click "change plan settings:
7: in the next window left click "change advanced power settings"
8: in the Power Options window that comes up you will see the word "sleep" with a square box next to it that has a + sign in it.
9: left click the + and you will see "allow hybrid sleep"
10: left click the + and there will be the choices for yes or no to hybrid sleep. If either hybrid sleep (on battery or plugged in, or both) then the machine will not allow hibernation, as hybrid sleep forces hibernate on its own when you put the machine to sleep.
say no to disable hybrid sleep which will allow hibernation. you may need to use that CMD statement after this procedure.
Re: T400 Hibernation Problem
How long does it take you guys to put your machines into hibernate mode?
I am used to XP. Maybe Vista is just slower?

Re: T400 Hibernation Problem
Yes. Vista is much slower. Around 30 seconds to hibernate completion. Coming out of hibernate is also much longer than XP.ian12345 wrote:How long does it take you guys to put your machines into hibernate mode?

Windows 7 beta hibernates in and out nearly as fast as XP, even though it still uses the Vista kernel.
Re: T400 Hibernation Problem
