T60 Biometric Coprocessor driver and Fingerprint Software

#1 Post by Simpol » Fri Apr 10, 2009 10:12 pm

You can use Upek's Windows 7 driver from their support page but I wanted to use Lenovo's Fingerprint Software instead of using UPEK's software. I used the previous version for Vista 32-bit of the Fingerprint software, version 5.8.2.4462. You can download this older version here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-70064 ,on the bottom section of the page. The upper section has the newer Fingerprint software, version 5.8.2.4824 but the coprocessor driver on that will not install at all, only the software installs.

1. I installed version 5.8.2.4462, restarted the machine.
2. The Fingerprint software will error out and will not run but the coprocessor hardware driver will install just fine.
3. Uninstall the Fingerprint software 5.8.2.4462 from the Control Panel -> Programs and Features, restart machine.
4. Install the newer version of the Fingerprint software, 5.8.2.4824. When you run the installer file, fprx64_582_4824ww.exe, right-click it and do a Run As Administrator. If you don't see the Run As Admin option, do the install anyway and restart the machine.
5. When you first run the Fingerprint software, right-click it and select Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab and run the application in Windows XP SP2 mode.
7. You can set Windows Logon type in the Fingerprint Software settings.

I have a T60 2623-KFU type running Windows 7 Beta with the latest updates and the Fingerprint enrollment and logon is working great.
