X40 Laptop Boot Options

#1 Post by gringo1 » Sat Apr 11, 2009 6:34 pm

My X40 laptop has only 2 boot options.
IDE HD or
PCI LAN IBA GE SLOT 0208 v 121
That's all. No other boot options in the BIOS.
The HD is dead. Bought a new HD.
How can I boot from USB with external CD with my original XP setup disk?
Help is appreciated.

Are these boot options presented via F12 or in boot list via F1? If via F12, option will appear once the device is connected.

If F1, then try reset BIOS to default state.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
That's the answer.
You have saved my marriage because I've spent hours trying to resolve this and you solved it for me in a flash.
