Video signal does not switch to external monitor

The notebook screen works fine without any problems. When i switch to an external monitor (by pressing Fn F7) nothing shows on the external monitor.

I tried different cables, different monitors, both VGA ports on notebook and dock but without success.

Check the settings of your Intel video software. On a T60, I found they override the Thinkpad settings. I'm afraid it wasn't my machine so I can't duplicate it now, but I seem to remember turning off the mulitple display options in the Intel software.

After numerous attempts to solve this issue I have finally decided to send my notebook to an IBM authorized repair center. They checked the notebook and it seems there is a fault in the motherboard. Luckily my notebook is still under warranty and they have ordered a new one for me which I should receive within 2 weeks.

My advice for anyone with similar problem to do the same since it is not a software configuration issue.
