T400 Purchase Warranty

T400 comes with a one-year Depot warranty.

Of course, that is not enough.

So during the configuration process, you have the option of purchasing additional warranty periods. One of the option is: 3 year depot 9x5 Next Business Day.

Now, my question is: If I buy this "3 year depot 9x5 Next Business Day", does this mean that I will have 4 years of warranty? (3 years I buy, in addition to the 1 year that comes with the machine)?

Or, does the "3 year depot 9x5 Next Business Day" start from the date of my computer purchase? So regardless of the fact that T400 comes with a 1-year warranty itself, I will have only 3 years of coverage in total? This would mean that I will have wasted one year.

What is the most sensible way to go about this?

That warranty starts from the date of purchase and the total duration is 3 years. Even if you purchased it after 11 months, the end date of the warranty would still be 3 years from original purchase date.
