We get our tax slips from banks and whatever by February 28. I have the luxury of writing and submitting my own T4 (your W2), so everything is done by Feb. 28 (due April 30) and we have had our refunds for weeks now. ... JDH

Ron -- I understand. I myself should have been more clear. I under-remit, so I owe taxes at year end. My spouse worked for the majority of the year (prior to retiring) and governments take more than their fair share during the year. Their position that they only want 95% is a long-term bald-faced lie (at least where I live). So I submit the returns electronically. When my spouse's refund comes in and has been banked, I write them a cheque. The net amount is a refund. ... JDH
