Frankenpad?

#1 Post by vargous » Wed Apr 15, 2009 8:33 am

I'm wondering if my R/T400 fits the bill.

Started with an R400 with SD card reader, 1440x900/bluetooth display and Intel 5100 WiFi.
Swapped those choice parts on to a T400 that had the ATI switchable graphics, plain Express/PC card slot, 1280x800/WWAN display and BG wireless card. So now my T400 has the nicer display, an SD card reader and N wireless.

The only downside is that the R400 has the T400's old LCD panel bezel and that might cause some confusion for it's future owner. Had I more than two hours to pull this off (babies waking up), I would have swapped bezels as well.

The only thing I didn't move over was Bluetooth. I don't know if there is a BT module that I can move over or if it there is more to it.

Welcome to the forum.

I hereby grant your ThinkPad FrankenPad status.

My opinion only, as worthless as it may be.

I know that on the t4x the modem and bluetooth were on the same card, you might want to look at that (it is probably diffrent with the newer system). IMHO, it qualifies as a frankenpad.
