friend of mine dropped his T61 onto hardwood flooring -_-
initially thought his laptop died, but turns out HDD was dead
replaced it, thought it was good to go
All drivers installed fine, except for the vid card driver
I tried installing with the driver downloaded from Lenovo, as well as manually installing it from device manager.
neither yielded any results.
User is running WinXP SP2
After failing to install the driver multiple times, I'm starting to suspect that the drop might have damaged something in the vid card, although, I thought any drop should've rendered the video card completely inoperable, but I guess anything could happen.
is there anything else I can try before sending this back to Lenovo?(not even sure if he still has any warranty left)
Thanks!!!

In what way does the driver fail to install (any error messages etc)? M$ update should too provide some driver for the card.

well, the installation appears to complete normally, and then prompts to reboot as usual.
After rebooting, the driver's still missing from the device manager.
Manual install simply fails after a certain point.

Did you install driver 7kd171ww.exe? Did you follow the following instructions?
Lenovo wrote:INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Notes:
- If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update
the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the
Version Information section.
- Make sure that the BIOS version installed on the system is 7KETB7WW/7LETB7WW
or higher.
- Install QFE Q941880 or update Windows XP to Windows XP SP3. This is to fix an
intermittent blue screen error that happens if the process of hot-undocking
the system with "Lid Close Action" set to "Do Nothing" then warm-docking the
system is repeated several times. For the QFE driver, refer to this link:

1. Start Windows and logon with administrative privileges.
2. Extract the video drivers to the hard drive.
The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\DISPLAY
3. Click Start, then click Run.
4. In the Run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\DISPLAY\SETUP.EXE to install
the video driver. Click OK to start the installation process. If you
extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead.
5. When the Welcome window appears, click Next.
6. At the Software License Agreement screen, if you agree, click Yes.
7. At the Select Components screen, click Express.
8. At the Setup Complete screen, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now.
9. Click Finish, then reboot the system.
