Trackpoint - Durability and Settings
Trackpoint - Durability and Settings
Question is pretty plain. I'm wondering how durable the Trackpoint is, but I see that the more pressure you put on it the faster it goes, so I'm not too worried about not having the touchpad, but I dont want to break the thing.
Also I remember going into Control Panel and being able to mess with Track Point settings but not I cant find it again even if I go into MOUSE, can I know I set the track point to respond to my touch to serve as a "click" but I've lost that and cant find it again.

TrackPoints are pretty durable IMO. I've put the TrackPoint on my T40 through pretty heavy use for over a year and have had 0 problems with it.
The technology had been in use for more than a decade, so I imagine most of the problems have been worked out.

Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!
Re: Trackpoint - Durability and Settings
Never had problem with TrackPoint. Even the TrackPoints of my legacy ThinkPads work perfectly. The only thing you have to buy is TrackPoint caps, but that's just a few bucks.

Start, Settings, Control Panel, Mouse. You should see a Trackpoint tab on the property sheet. And does anyone know where I can access those trackpoint settings?
You can also get there from ThinkPad Configuration, TrackPoint.
Either way, once you're there, check off "Show TrackPoint icon on the system tray."
