LED Indicator light always on

As far a I know this could be solved through the BIOS menu. However when I boot through a UNIX operating system I receive a HAL error; something about it already being in use. When I shut down it comes up as a busy device which is attached and cannot be unmounted. The LED indicator light for the right side, farthest back & bottom USB is constantly on. If this is a problem of broken pins which is seems to be to me, could I fix the problem by sodering the pins back into place?
