Here is the deal, I dont know what happened, but all of a sudden when I switch on my T30 it does nothing, I can hear fan running and processor doing something as I can feel hot air coming out after a while. But other than that nothing happens. I tried pressing Fn+F7 to check if the display has gone bad, but it does nothing, no beeps nothing.
What might be the problem?? anyone have any idea or came across such a problem??
thanks,
PNT.
T30 dead??
Re: T30 dead??
Remove the battery, remove the RAM, reinstall the battery, power up. Does it beep now?

Try hooking up an external monitor and see if you get a picture when you press Fn + F7.

Re: T30 dead??
This T30 I'm replying to you on needed the graphics chip reflowing (same problem as with the T4x's).
(It also needed both memory slots reflowing, and some of the buttons along the top of the keyboard keep jamming down - Other than that it works fine!)
Try the other suggestions first.
The T30 uses the same ATI Radeon 7500 graphics chip as found in some of the T4x models
If it's still not working after the other checks remove the keyboard to gain access to the chip underneath.
Power down the TP.
Press down on the top of the graphics chip and switch on the TP.
if you now get a picture on the screen then it's a chip fault. if you don't it may still be but it could be something else on the motherboard or elsewhere.
In general, if the pressing down on the chip works, don't repeat it since it's possible to dislodge some of the tiny solder balls and the chip will need reballing (a complete replacement of the 700 odd solder balls) rather than a reflow (a process which resolders the the balls back on again).
