Hi:
I'm just wondering if the T43 recovery media will work on T42? The reason I'm asking is that I have created a USB HDD recovery media for my T43 and wonder if it will work on my T42. I just don't want to have two separate HDD for the same purpose. Also, does anyone know if it's possible create rapid restore backups for both T42 and T43 on the same HDD?
Thanks,
Gary

Re: T43 Recovery Disk for T42?
It has been my experience that T43 recovery media will not work on T42's due to the different HAL in use between the two architectures. T43's are fairly picky when it comes to recovery media, in fact they take different images for integrated vs discrete chipsets. I don't know (actually I don't even understand) the answer to your second question.
Re: T43 Recovery Disk for T42?
My empirical experience has been that the recovery CDs are backwards compatible between families. You may need to download some specific drivers. although they are usually include several generations' worth. I've never tried the T43 > T42 specifically but I've used T6x on a T4x and a T4x on a 600E with very little problem.

Re: T43 Recovery Disk for T42?
Thanks! I'll give it a try.
Btw, has anyone succeeded in creating a rescue media using usb thumb drive?
My second question was regarding backing up the contents of the laptop using rescue and recovery. I find that the program doesn't seem to like partitioned USB HDD and storing more backup information of a second laptop. Is there a way to solve this?
Thanks,
Gary
