Hi and thanks for reading this:
last night, i had my IBM T60p laptop in my bag w. other stuff - a small bottle of water dripped onto the back of the laptop. It was on, in sleep mode. that evening, when i pulled it out, there was no power in any noticeable fashion. i.e. dead.
So. I'm not sure how to proceed here. I have the laptop out, but it will not turn on. There are no lights. How do I determine a course of action here.
this wasn't a lot of water, but there was moisture on the battery when i pulled it from the back. How do I determine if the motherboard is shot? A technical associate has told me its most likely not the battery that's at issue.
Has anyone had success with bringing back a laptop from moisture.?
Also, I'm considering a T61 as a replacement-is this comparable to the T60p?
thank you ..
jack

Re: small amount of moisture dripped onto back of T60p -
You can't tell by any magic cantations if the systemboard is shot. I'd disassemble the machine completely and let it dry out for several days. You're lucky it was only water. Keep in mind though that water hitting the battery connections has been known to short out the electronics inside the battery...so you may be looking at a multiple part repair.
