Z60t power failure - repair recommendations?

#1 Post by TucsonMTB » Sun Apr 19, 2009 8:41 pm

Over the years, we have been very lucky with ThinkPads. Most problems develop within the three-year warranty and are fixed promptly. Today was an exception.

My wife currently uses a T61 with the large wide screen and all is well. For her annual trip to visit her mom in Pennsylvania during Tucson's fierce June weather, I decided to update the things she uses most often on her previous machine, a pristine T60t Type 2513-MHU. Her mom only has dial-up so extra power is not needed and the smaller size would be easier to carry.

Yesterday, after performing all the Microsoft updates and copying her email client and Palm software to the Z60t all was well. I hibernated the unit with a nearly full charge and set it aside, planning to install Palm software for a new Palm TX today. But, pressing the power switch today did nothing! No LED's when a power adapter is connected either. Pulled the keyboard and jiggled connections. Reseated everything from the hard drive to RAM, but nothing will get a response.

So, now we have this beautiful machine that is stone dead. Not having needed repairs, other than warranty, for so long . . . I don't know where to turn. Suggestions welcomed.

Thanks for your wisdom . . . TucsonMTB

Happy ending! Lenovo allowed me to purchase a warranty extension and repaired the machine very quickly.

Kudos to Lenovo!
