WWAN problem

#1 Post by TheBigHunt » Tue Apr 21, 2009 4:52 am

Hi

I've bought a sierra 8775 wwan card on ebay (hp origin), patch my bios with the zender version...

When i turn on the x, the green led of the wwan antena turn on, during about 10-15 sec... and turn off after this delay.

THis on off is when i boot vista, when i go in bios, when i go in boot select (f12)...

Ive no sim in sim slot, i've tryed with my gsm sim which is a 3g one... allways this pb.. ?

Any one has an idea ?

Thanks

Tape Pin 20 of the MC8775. Your issue is not related to the SIM card.

On the underside of the MC8775 card, use a piece of tape to cover Pin 20. In the picture in the link below, you can see black tape covering Pin 20. Notice that the numbering of the pins on the bottom is EVEN numbers. If you count backwards from the Pin 38 in the picture (38, 36, 34, 32, ...), you will get to Pin 20 -- the one with the black tape covering it.

Wrap the tape 1 mm around the edge of the card, so that the tape is not pushed back when you insert the card into the Mini-PCIe slot. (Make sure the tape does not wrap around the card and cover up the pin on the front side of the card.)
Bonne chance!

Is the MC8775 being detected in device manager under modems? - Which driver are you using and what utility do you have installed to support the MC8775?

I initially had this version (HP hs2300) of the MC8775 installed - Worked OK with HP drivers and the generic Sierra Wireless 3g Watcher Utility.

Correct -- that is not possible if the card is not an "approved" Lenovo card, unless you make modifications to Access Connections binaries.
... but so what? Why do you need to use WWAN (the MC8775) with Access Connections? The hardware on/off switch should work with your setup even if Fn-F5 does not.

I've a hsdpa air card sierra in modem... but the card is not reconnized ... i've remose the card, and the modem is still in device maanger...

3G watcher dont find any device.... eve if the card is in the slot...

So :
1 - I've ptch the bios with the zender one
2 - I've tape de pin 20 of the card
3 - I've try to install some different drivers... The one which install the modem is... 3g watcher...

i'm a kind of desapointed...

Best for me to order a lenovo 3g card...
