FOUND: Device carrier for ultrabay plus

#1 Post by middleofsweden » Tue Apr 21, 2009 8:45 am

I would like to buy an ultrabay plus device carrier. Either naked or with the numeric keypad.

As I live in sweden you must be willing to ship internationally.

They sell them online at a very reasonable price here:

http://www.getpartsonline.com/27p5737.html

But the shipping to europe by DHL is nearly $100 :x and for some reason the webshop doesnt let me choose USPS priority international to sweden.

Just checked it, shipping to my home address ($13.62) plus $10.99 for the item would be ca. $25.-
Shipping this item (ca. 1 pound) to Sweden via USPS "Priority Mail® International Small Flat-Rate Box" adds another $12.95 to it.
Total ca. $38.-

Methinks you should email them and ask about their shipping options.!

Thanks for the advice and flatrate info RBS.

I have wrote them an e-mail and asked them for a realistic shipping quote. I also asked them if they could send it using the USPS flatrate envelope or small box.

While I wait for their reply I am still intrested if someone has one of those carriers, especially one with the numeric keypad included.

I dont mind if the carrier might be physically broken, the reason I want one is for experimental purposes. I have for some reason got very intrested in the mystical USB abilities in the "ultrabay 2000+" slot.

My calculation was actually slightly different.
If someone in the USA would order it for you, have it sent to their house, and then ship it on to you, that's ca. $38.-
Company direct to you would/should be $10.99, plus USPS flat-rate shipping to you $12.95, plus say $5.- handling, that's still only ca. $38.-

ah.. I never thought of that possibility.. That is a great idea RBS.

I still wait for getpartsonline:s reply but I doubt that they put any large ammount of energy in a $10+ international sale.

I dont know many people in US, atleast not good enough to ask them for that favour.

Is there anyone here in the forum that would like to go through the procedure RBS mention, I would pay $20 for that service.

Or if someone would need hmm.. lets say.. a device carrier for ultrabay + :D , add one extra to the order and keep that one for the trouble. But as I guess that I am pretty alone looking for one, add any ~$20 item to the order (preferably not TOO bulky so the shipping skyrockets) .

EDIT: (changed $10 to $20)

I just got the answer from the webshop.

They said with very nice words that if the shipping calculator for some reason couldnt provide a USPS shipping option for my location, then it wasnt an avaliable option for me.

As i thought, they wouldnt spend more seconds than necessary to answer my email.. and who can blame them for a $11 sale. :|

Im stuck with the ~$100 DHL shipping option.

Well, I raise to $20 if someone help me out as described in previous posts.

Anyone.. :?: ..
