T61 Warranty in France

My daughter will be attending university in France over the summer and is kidnapping my T61 for a 2 month period.

The 1 year depot warranty will expire end of May, and while I was discussing an extension with Lenovo Canada, I asked about coverage for this machine while it is overseas.


After 2 confusing and conflicting conversations with a Lenovo rep in Canada and the U.S(Georgia??) I am still not clear what if any coverage is available.

The Lenovo warranty web site lists a series of countries that seem to cover this machine type (7658), but France is not one of them. Some where along the line the Lenovo rep said something about there only being "partners" in France and that this has a bearing on the warranty.

Anyone out there have some definitive answers or suggestions?
