ATI Mobility Radeon 3470 Display Issue

#1 Post by bdneenm » Thu Apr 23, 2009 7:59 am

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this issue and been able to resolve it.

I recently received my T400 thinkpad and loaded with Vista 64Bit, however I am having an issue with the display drivers on psted on the Lenovo site for the ATI Mobility Radeon 3470 card. I can get it to install and work properly but after rebooting my machine it shows the yellow exclamation in the device manager stating that the card isn't working appropriately. This prevents me from being able to use the switchable graphics and I get an error about closing all 3D applications when I have not a single application open. If you have experienced a similar issue to this, I'd like to hear about it and what you did to resolve this. It's becoming quiet difficult, since I upgraded to this card specifically to have the improved graphics.

Thought I'd update this in case any others were having a similar issue, but I found the resolution in another forum; however I needed to upgrade to Vista SP1 for this to work. I had initially thought that doing the Windows--->Update was sufficiet, but I had to actually download SP 1 and install it. In any case all is working. Although now I'm noticing what many have been saying in this forum about the battery life. I was told I'd get about 6hrs battery life on the 6 cell, however running on lowest power setting I can only swing about 3.25hrs. So like others have noted I too I'm curious under the conditions Lenovo performed their test to state the battery times that they quoted.
