Which cpus fit a T60 or T61 motherboard?
I am thinking of upgrading my Flexview T60 with a T61 integrated gpu motherboard and ask myself if I can put my old T60 T2400 cpu into a T61 motherboard. Is that possible?
Can I put a L2300 x60s cpu into the T60?

Re: Which cpus fit a T60 or T61 motherboard?
Sorry, no -- the CPUs are surface-mounted and can't be removed or replaced from the motherboard.
X220 (4287-2W5, Windows 8 Pro) / X31 (2672-CXU, XP Pro) / X61s (7668-CTO, Windows 8 Pro)
Re: Which cpus fit a T60 or T61 motherboard?
No for T60 to T61, and vice versa, because of FSB speed differences required by the respective chipsets. The CPUs are socketed, so they can be replaced. You can change the CPUs on both the T60 and the T61, but you have to replace them with compatible CPUs.
No for the X6x series, because the CPUs are soldered to the motherboards.

Why not a T60 motherboard with Intel GPU? Then you can reuse the T2400. Plus I'm guessing it'll be more compatible with your existing case.

Re: Which cpus fit a T60 or T61 motherboard?
Thanks for your quick and helpful replies. The x60s cpus are soldered on the motherboard, that's why a new replacement x60s motherboard starts from around 1.000 €.
I'll go with a T60 wwan ready motherboard and intel integrated graphics. The T61 motherboard fits in a T60 but one screw on the upper right does not fit so there is some flexing. After hearing the T4 series complains about the flexing issue I rather just replace my t60 motherboard with a t60 motherboard.
Costs are 250 € for the motherboard and maybe around 150 € for all the other stuff: cpu/gpu cooler for integrated gpu motherboards, wwan cables, wwan card, screw set, screwdriver set, additional stuff. I wonder if it is worth it. Currently I cook both cpu and gpu at around 80 celsius with the fan disabled, this is within specifications. I'd only replace the motherboard because of some more or less battery advantages of the integrated gpu and wwan. For having wwan I could also buy a Blackberry Bold for usb or bluetooth tethering. How would you decide?

I seriously looked at retrofitting WWAN into my newly upgraded T61p...
After thinking about it for some time, it came down to two major reasons not to:
1. Do any of us really need any MORE pulsed microwave radiation so close to our bodies?
2. It is much easier to find a good signal with a WWAN USB dongle on a 3m cable.
I have a little bag of Velcro pads and use them to stick the dongle onto windows etc...
Good luck with whatever you decide to do
Yours,
Peter
