how much is my x40 worth?

#1 Post by sk33 » Sat Jan 29, 2005 11:42 pm

I don't know if this is the right forum.. but I'm wondering what you guys think is a fair price for my x40.

it's 5 months old, not used for the past 1.. perfect condition (kept in my shinza case almost the entire time when not being used) - warranty till 8/15/07... it's a 2371-9EU (1.2 ULV centrino, 512 built-in ram + upgraded crucial 512 for a total of 1 gig, 40 GB HD, win xp pro)

So I'd love to hear some ideas of what a fair price is for this, so I can post it for sale and get it sold.

Hey sk33,

I'm thinking of getting an X40 myself ... just curious why you are selling yours! Are you selling to purchase a different Thinkpad model? Please see my post (immediately after yours).

Thanks,
Nick

not at all ncke...

I bought it at the beginning of last semester for college, I graduated and now it's been sitting on my desk doing nothing for a month... and I need money to finance a trip to Europe... so I'm selling this and some other things of mine (Breitling watch, other stuff)

It's the best computer I've ever owned. I just didn't plan on graduating early when I bought it.

You can get similar models for around $1200 from ebay powersellers, so I think that what you can expect. If your screen is perfect (no dead or stuck pixels) you could probably ask a little more. By the way, the 1.2ghz is a LV processor, not a ULV.

Just out of curiosity, does you fan run often? I have a 1.0ghz X40 where the fan rarely turns on. I'm thinking about buying a 1.2ghz one, but I've read varying reports of fan behaviour. Apparently on some, the fan rarely runs, on others it turns on with the slightest usage.
