Hi,I'm pretty new here and have searched the forum but did not find too much directly related to the topic.
Recently,I am studying the RAM module and encounter the SPD.I have wikipedia it,and know that: SPD is used to store some configuration information that BIOS could use to set the work frequency of RAM module etc.
Then I get the problem:
Everest(newest edition) could not find any SPD information on my T23.So does CPU-Z.
Only the freeware spdtool http://www.techpowerup.com/spdtool/ could detect SPD information. But this software does not get any help document.I really does not know why It is 3 module while I have only installed one 256 IBM Mem and one 512 Hynix Mem.
So,does anyone encounter this kind of problem.
---
Thx in advance.Sorry for my english.

Re: SPD of IBM T23's memory
Welcome to thinkpads.com!
I have tried both version 0.62 and 0.63 of spdtool using one of my T23 systems and it shows all "FF" as the data. I am using Windows XP, which should be supported so I do not know why the program cannot read the SPD. It might be possible that it does not support the chipset inside the T23. If your program shows 3 modules, then you are correct to say that is an error. I have tried the latest version of CPU-Z (1.50) and it also does not report any SPD information. I also have been looking for a program which can read the SPD from the module when it is installed in a laptop and have yet to find one that works.
edit: I now see that there is a menu option "File/Read" for Module 4, 5 and 6 ???? The SPD data that is displayed for those "modules" is not valid.

Re: SPD of IBM T23's memory
thx for your reply
I am going to figure out how does the spd software work, then I'll make one spd tool my own.
I'll release it before May under GPL.^_^
