T61/p Motherboard Parts
T61/p Motherboard Parts
Are the T61 14.1" ( Standard - 889* ) and 14.1" ( widescreen - 66**) or 15.4 " ( widescreen ) systems motherboard part numbers compatibile and interchangeable
Earlier for T4x systems between 14 and 15 inch systems, the motherboards were compatible and had an interposer card to extend the cd connector.
Thanks

Re: T61/p Motherboard Parts
None of the part #'s match....not one, so I would say no.

Re: T61/p Motherboard Parts
Thank you Harry, I saw the part FRU numbers earlier. But was not sure and wondering, even if they had different FRU's for branding purpose, do they physically fit, if something tried to use a base with a different board.
Re: T61/p Motherboard Parts
They are different sizes
Re: T61/p Motherboard Parts
Some additions:
The 15.4" boards between T60 and T61 are interchangeable.
The 14.1" standard between T60 and T61 are interchangeable
14.1" Widescreen in T61's are in their own class.
Like rick said they are different sizes

Re: T61/p Motherboard Parts
Sorry to bring this topic up again. I found this when searching for similar answers.
42W7596 is a V5250 board for the t60. I think it's from a 15.1 inch T60p.
Are the 14.1 inch and 15.1 inch motherboards interchangeable?
Here's a list of motherboard fru numbers of 15.1 (14.1?) M66 boards that I've come across so far stating they are V5250's.
Please correct me if I'm wrong!
41W1407
42T8575
42T0153
42W2218( sticker?)
42w7596(?)
edit: I take it that 15.4 widescreen mobo's are definitely not interchangeable. It seems that you have to be very cautious when buying from any vendor, that you don't get the wrong size motherboard...

Re: T61/p Motherboard Parts
The 14" and 15" 4:3 machines use the same motherboard. There is a little card (interposer) to extend the optical drive connectors.

Thank you very much for the reply.richk wrote:The 14" and 15" 4:3 machines use the same motherboard. There is a little card (interposer) to extend the optical drive connectors.
Just a question:
If I come across any more fru number's of these boards, would it be useful to put them on this thread if anybody needs to check, or do you think it's not worth the time? It's just that some of these fru numbers can be a little confusing sometimes...

Re: T61/p Motherboard Parts
In my opinion, there are too many to be useful.
