I was stupid(again) - can someone help me ?

Help !!!! :(

Whilst wondering around about 3 layers deep in settings on the IBM T-40, I made a setting change affecting shut down.

I unchecked (or checked) a box somewhere concerning clearing caches and so forth at shut down. Now my machine takes 3-5 minutes to complete the shut down process. I can't find what I did.............(some day I'll learn)

Any ThinkPad whizzes who can help me?

Thanks......."troubled tinkerer"

Change the data value of the ClearPageFileAtShutdown value in the following registry key back to a value of 0:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

Value Name: ClearPageFileAtShutdown
Value Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0
T40p 2373-g1g: 1.6 GHz, 1536 MB RAM, 160 GB @ 5400 rpm drive, 64 MB Video, IBM a/b/g II, CD-RW/DVD Combo II, M10 Fan, Ubuntu 8.04

It seems to have helped

I found the HKey value set at "1", changed to "0" as instructed.

The first shut down there was no change, but next was quicker, that may have done it.

Thanks

or if you don't wanna mess around with your registry...

Go to Control Panel and choose Administrative Tools
Choose "Local Security Policy"
Under Local Policies choose "Security Options"
Towards the bottom(maybe the 5th from the bottom) set the property to Disabled for "Shutdown: Clear virtual memory pagefile"

That should be it.
