Windows 7 RC: Build 7100 x64
Windows 7 RC: Build 7100 x64
Just installed the new system on my x200s this morning.
Many utilities/drivers work fine. However I found hotkey utility and trackpoint driver not very stable. For example, a resume from sleep will result in non-function of all FN key combos, like FN+F5...etc
Usually a reboot fixes these issues.
At least both the power manager driver and power manager works fine.
Any other experience/workarounds to share please?

Re: Windows 7 RC: Build 7100 x64
I use the same build, but I have not installed any tools for the touchpad/function keys.
Apart from not having the scroll ability on my touchpad, everything works fine, even the function keys, after resuming from sleep.

Re: Windows 7 RC: Build 7100 x64
Sorry for stealing the thread, could you guys post md5 or sha1 of the .iso images of the RC (if available, for both x64 and x86 would be great).
Thanks in advance,
Marin

Re: Windows 7 RC: Build 7100 x64
I just found that my FN key combo's totally stopped working, like, I can't bring up the wireless radio configuration by FN+F5.
Brightness can't be adjusted...
Anyway, Marin, I'll post the checksums when I get them.

Re: Windows 7 RC: Build 7100 x64
I guess that depends on the specific machine, but I had much more luck with older Lenovo Vista drivers than with the new ones (somewhat before Lenovo introduced the fancy Vista GUI of their apps). Did you guys upgrade the build to 7100 or did you perform a clean install of it?

Neenee, are you able to adjust screen brightness and wireless radio on/off by function keys?neenee wrote:I use the same build, but I have not installed any tools for the touchpad/function keys.

Re: Windows 7 RC: Build 7100 x64
I'm also running clean install of Build 7100 x64 on an X200
I can't adjust brightness after sleep either, but the OSD shows the green bars going up and down.

Yep, same thing here.TJMacGyver wrote:I'm also running clean install of Build 7100 x64 on an X200

I heard uninstalling power manager / power manager driver would solve the issue, but I need it....
Anyone wanna give it a try?

Re: Windows 7 RC: Build 7100 x64
It's been doing that since at least build 7054 or whatever it was for me... didn't try earlier..
OSD for backlight doesnt show on bootup, but shows for wifi/sound
after waking from sleep, the osd for backlight shows, but the others don't, and ALL of them fail to do anything...
never use sleep anyway, and currently not heavily using 7 after I found how to fix most of vista to be more laptop-friendly, at the moment, it seems everyone is having issues with those lenovo utilities, so I'm betting we'll have to wait for a patch from them...

Re: Windows 7 RC: Build 7100 x64
Yeah, I agree.
ThinkVantage suite needs updating for win 7. This reminded me of two years ago when vista was first out.... very similar situation where thinkvantage utilities failed.
But it is so nice to have win 7!!! I just love the smoothness of the GUI and aero peek.
I might keep win 7 for another month or so, if I can't stand it i'll just restore it back to vista. Good thing that I saved a complete backup.

Do you need the Checksums for the official releases for x86 and x64 from MSDN? I can get you those.

I can adjust the brightness with Fn+Home/End, but Fn+F5 to toggle wireless, does not seem to do anything.hsjC wrote:Neenee, are you able to adjust screen brightness and wireless radio on/off by function keys?
Re: Windows 7 RC: Build 7100 x64
You can adjust brightness, turn on/off wireless by using the Windows Mobility Center (Windows key - "X"). Not certain how to turn on/off bluetooth without Fn-F5 though.

Re: Windows 7 RC: Build 7100 x64
After installing some updates from Windows update, I can now control the screen brightness after Sleep.
amongst the updates where the new Intel WDDM 1.1 Graphics drivers and the Lenovo Display driver.
Now i'm just bummed that putting the computer to sleep has already slowed down compared to the first couple of days. it now takes 5 sec to sleep and 4 to wake up

Dang, now I'm really tempted to try a reinstall with today's public release.
Any news if battery life is better since the older build 7100?

Re: Windows 7 RC: Build 7100 x64
I was a bit to quick to judge
After the waking the laptop from HIBERNATE this morning, I turned the backlight down a bit, while it was resuming windows, as I was running on battery. When the system was ready the backlight controls didn't work anymore.
But I noticed that the on screen indicator was back, and I realized that it had been missing yesterday, when it worked, so maybe it has something to do with the OSD software thats not working properly.

Re: Windows 7 RC: Build 7100 x64
All my Fn key F key, screen brightness etc. combinations started working fine on my T61p after I installed the Vista Hot Key driver on my W7 build 7127 rc.
Problem I'm having is power manager is flaky, but then it was under vista also.
And now after a while, I've lost Fn-F5 functionality. But to the poster above who mentioned windows mobility, win key + x, THANKS, that's really COOL!
