Visa/Mastercard/Amex discounts
Where do you go to get these credit card discounts that are mentioned so frequently on the forum? I bought a T42 for a client on Friday and called Amex and IBM to ask about Amex discounts and neither knew anything about them.

Go to the card company's website and look for a link to discounts or promotions. Here's what VISA has on IBM http://www.usa.visa.com/personal/discou ... /index.jsp

re card discounts
cool, thanks guys, this site rocks.
Pity my client had to pay $1800 when I find similar configs at $400 less. I'm sure he'll be very happy with his T42 though his business partner was criticising my decison to go for IBM over Dell.
I must admit that I find the IBM pricing totally fluid. Depending on where you go on the IBM site, you find the price between similarly configured T42's to vary by several hundred dollars.

Michael,
How did the client (or you) pay for the laptop? If by credit card, most of them will pricematch for up to 30 days. Or, just point them to the respective IBM webpage for their card.
If you bought the unit directly from IBM, you could always return it under the 30 day return policy and get a replacement at the lower price.
Regards,
James

Call IBM, if they won't adjust the price based on the same model being offered on the IBM/Visa webpage, send the unit back and order a replacement.michaelj wrote:Paid using client's Visa card and purchased directly from IBM.
