One key of the keyboard got tough
One key of the keyboard got tough
One of the key of my keyboard has got a bit tough to type. Not a big issue, but it is rather annoying. I suppose that the problem is cause by something has got under the key and removing that alien object (if this is the real cause of the disfunction) would resolve the issue. Does anybody know, how to remove the key of the ThinkPad keyboard?

Thank you for the quick reply!
The link you posted may help, although it does not sound encouraging. In fact I thought that there is some really easy way how one can replace a ThinkPad key but it seems that this is no the case.

Re: One key of the keyboard got tough
Removing Thinkpad keys is real easy. I've done that a few times when i wasn't even trying. It's putting them back on that can be difficult. I've done that successfully once. Given up in failure a couple of times also.

Re: One key of the keyboard got tough
I have used a toothpick to gingerly pick around under the keys for debris. I have also used canned air. Canned air would be the preferred method IMO. If you do remove the key, either accidently or on purpose, I have some links bookmarked for getting the key back in place. I have had to do that a couple of times when I accidently popped a key off. Some have used a vacuum with success, but you need to be careful with that method. One forum member vacuumed a couple of keys off his keyboard!

Re: One key of the keyboard got tough
When I still had a T41, my 1.5 yr old nephew liked to mimic me and "press" the keys which I allowed him from time to time. Not so often though as it usually ended up in a popped key. I got pretty good at putting them back and never broke a single one. Now I got a T60 and he's old enough to actually push the keys without ripping them off, so I didn't have to put them back yet.
I use a vacuum cleaner from time to time to get rid of the debris. As GomJabbar said, you have to be careful while doing this. I always set the lowest speed and always make sure it sucks the air from between the keys.

Re: One key of the keyboard got tough
This is exaclty what I meant. A time ago when I had R52 one of the keys accidentally popped up during the cleaning and I spent some 4 or more hours to get that [censored] key back in the place. I used to think that this is because I am stupid, but as it turns out there is nothing better than error & trial.
Anyway, I will try vacuum cleaner first (as getting caned air seems rather complicate for me).
