Right after getting my R51 I disabled the sound on it. and I don't remember what I did. Now I can't for the life of me figure out how to restore it. There is no little red x over the speaker icon in the system tray, and when I run the test utility it reports the sound card is working.
I know-dumb. But I would appreciate any ideas. Gotta be some obscure setting somewhere, but I can't find it.
I've had the laptop about 2 months. Has XP Pro on it.
Sound problem

you might try going into Device Manager...right click on my computer and then select properties...this will bring up a window with tabs on the top...one of them being "hardware." Then in that tab there is Device Manager. Go there and look under sound...you WILL see a red X here if you disabled it. If you see the red X, then double click on it and the next window will allow you to enable it. You can also go into ThinkPad Configuration and see if it's disabled there. Good luck.
