Replace Intel 5100

#1 Post by mtroxel » Fri May 01, 2009 1:03 pm

I've given up. Have had several wireless cards....all connected better than this one. Was 10' from my Linksys router this AM and a page was loading slowly. So cleared the cache, turned off the wireless, plugged in with CAT5 and reloaded the page. Since my Comcast connection runs at 10 megs on a good day, it shouldn't have mattered. It did. Oh, and I have the latest driver from Intel, the 12.4.0.21.

So, I don't want a cheap miniPCI wireless card, I want a good one. Any suggestions?

Have you looked to see if there a firmware upgrade for your router?

I have the latest. And it's not just my router, this just does not connect as well as my last ThinkPad, no matter where I go. And it's not just my computer. I have two clients with T400's with the Intel 5100. They both have problems and I can't solve them. It's just a crappy wireless card.
