so i've been a lurker here for ages but this is my first post. love the forum you guys all deserve a big pat on the back!
a few months back the oem boe hydis panel in my 1709-7HU started its slow decline
it took me about 9 months of living with the poor broken lcd before i cried "enough". (very very broke student syndrome).
i purchased a replacement lcd from a hongkong ebay shop. the seller was "mynbw" and the part number is 13N7096. he was the cheapest on there and shipping took 4 days (over a weekend) to me here in australia. nice
whats even nicer is that, while i'm still just coming to terms with a completely blemish free display, the samsung-manufactured derivative of the x60 lcd is definately a much nicer display. it is certainly brighter (about equivalent at 6/7 to the boe hydis 13n7094 maxed out to my eyes) and it seems much crisper. at this stage, i cannot guarantee that it isn't just my perception being skewed by the fact that i can see everythingxors!!11!1!11
the swap wasn't too difficult anyone with any technical aptitude could do it. its a bit fiddly here and there, but if you were hesitating, don't fret just do it. don't put yourself through the pain of a dying screen
cheers
david
