Do I use the Lenovo System Interface driver for XP?

#1 Post by jtp51 » Mon May 04, 2009 10:18 pm

I own a R50p 1832-22U.

I have a fresh install of Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP3 installed. I installed the Lenovo System Interface Driver 1.01, however when I type the volume, screen display brightness or light - no OSD is displayed.

I thought I read that I shouldn't use the Lenovo System Interface Driver with XP, is that correct?

I did uninstall it and I guess a OSD is not available for Windows XP?

Thanks,

Welcome to the forum.
You need to install all other available drivers etc. from the IBM/Lenovo website, starting with the Intel Chipset drivers.
System Update no longer works, so you must do it manually.
Doubleclicking on the downloaded file only extracts it into a directory, something like C:\DRIVERS\SOUND
You also need to go into the (in this sample) \SOUND directory and doubleclick the SETUP.EXE you will find there.
You need the HOTKEY and KB CUSTOMIZER utils installed to get your mentioned stuff going.

Thank you, you actually answered a lot of my questions.

I did get the OSD up & running, but I did not know about the Intel Chipset driver update.

I read that the System Update is now depreciated as well, I was looking at purchasing a Lenovo T400, it will be interesting to see what they come up with for an auto-update solution, if any.

It's going to run via RSS and the revamped Lenovo Messaging Service.
