CPU upgrades for 600

#1 Post by Guest » Mon Jan 31, 2005 12:54 am

Alright I managed to find your forum in a good time, just when my beloved 600 2645-35U is starting to feel sluggish.
I did some searching online and I came across a site that had 2 processors for sale.

333Mhz Celeron $8
and
300Mhz Pentium 2 $10

both with $7 shipping

now i know both have a 66Mhz FSB so any gain the P2 had on the desktop side (since celerons initially came 66Mhz as opposed to the P2 100Mhz) is pretty much a moot point I was wondering would it be more benefical to install the faster celeron or slower P2. I know that i can go as far as 400 Mhz with my laptop but right now I'm not paying $90 for a marginal increase.
so what do you guys say?

Currently i'm at.....
233 Mhz Pentium 2
160 MB ram
3.2 Gb Hard Drive
Windows XP SP2
Netgear 11Mbps WiFi
Maxtor 80GB USB Hard drive

Be sure to get an MMC-1 CPU. I would use the P2 over the celery...

The MMC1 P2 300 usually sells for around $30...

these are both MMC-1 modules, I made sure of that, I could post the page I found them on but I'm sure if I did they would be out of processors pretty quick :P
