Win7 RC on T61: Required CD/DVD drive device is missing

#1 Post by mp5 » Tue May 05, 2009 9:01 pm

hi guys,

I'm trying to install Win7 RC x64 from DVD. The installation progrom was launched after booting from the DVD. After select the language, it pops up an error message saying "Required CD/DVD drive device is missing", and asked me to find drivers. I searched and some say it's about the IDE controller. So I tried different drivers from lenovo and the install program can find a driver from the Intel Matrix Storage Manager package. I selected the driver and clicked next. The installation program checks the system for a while then poped up another message saying no new devices are found, and asking for driver again. Again I tried different drivers, but no progress this time. I'm totally clueless now.

Another internet post suggested changing SATA from AHCI to Compatible in BIOS. It didn't work neither.

My T61 model is 6465-CTO. It's running Win7 beta and it was installed without any problems.

Thanks a lot for any ideas!
