Cleaning up radiator

#1 Post by elvair » Wed May 06, 2009 7:50 pm

One of the funny problems I experienced on one of previous laptops (Toshiba), was that at some point the fan would get some much dust and dirt in there and it would no longer cool the system. Even at maximum speed, the system would still overheat and turn off automatically to avoid damage. I blame this on my habbit of working in bed (thats what laptops are for yeah? :) ), hence fan just keeps getting all sorts dusty things etc.

I have a bad feeling that my x301 may experience similar problems. Anyone experienced something like that before ? Even if it doesnt get to this kind of condition, any idea how to clean that?

It's very hard. You have to dissect nearly the entire laptop. Expect to spend at least an hour if you haven't done it before.
