College Offer - Help me decide to choose T400 or R400

Do you want the WXGA+ screen offered on The T400? That seems to be the biggest difference between the two.

Higher resolution (and smaller text and icons). If you don't want to view more on the screen or prefer larger text, get the R400. Other than the screen, both will be all-but-identical in use.

I know we're far away from that point right now, but the resale value of T series always beats one of the R series...some forward thinking on my part, couldn't help it... :)

You think that will hold true going forward given how ThinkPads have dropped in price? You're also getting the R series for less. If you sell it for less, you're not losing as much.

you mean R series is not as reliable? :roll:

sorry,never use any thinkpad before...I'm interested in one because I saw a lot of engineers using them on site

R series are just as reliable, they just don't have the "top of the line" reputation that the T series does, and therefore tend to have slightly less resale value. People want the T series and typically only choose the R series when they want to knock a bit off of the price. R series are just as well made, but they are a bit thicker, heavier, and in some cases cheaper-looking.
