WARNING: Newest 3.02 BIOS FIXED

#1 Post by dfumento » Sat May 09, 2009 9:22 am

A number of people including me have had problems with the 3.01 update of the BIOS. Not everybody but there are a number of people who have and I strongly suggest waiting until Lenovo fixes the problem:

See:
http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/mess ... ad.id=9382

"I just upgraded the firmware on my X200s, using the bootable CD-ROM option.

The firmware upgrade installed fine... restarted the computer.

Got the POST splash screen... but no boot after that.

I've tried resetting the BIOS settings, still no avail. It also won't boot off the USB DVD-ROM anymore, either, so I can't even flash it back to 2.06"

_____

Mark Hopkins of Lenovo recognizes the problem and is asking people to report their config. About 60 replies I think....

It appears that the 3.01 BIOS is incompatible with virtualization turned on. If you are having problems turn off virtualization in the BIOS which is still accessible even when the machine doesn't work.

Thanks dfumento, for posting this info. As a general rule I always hold off on updates if my computer is fine. If not I read the changelog, and still do a search to see if there are any problems. This is just one more reminder of the exposure one subjects their ThinkPad to, when updating drivers & other software. I hope that they create a fix soon, for everyone that was hit by this.
Good luck...
