X41 Ram Upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in my X41 2528-5FU. It seems that the stated max is 1GB but that people have successfully put 2GB in these machines but it won't work in some cases. Is this impression correct?

It'd seem the safe option is to go with the 1GB stick. 2GB might not be worth the risk considering it's XP and I'm not doing anything intensive with the machine.

Anything wrong with Crucial? Seems like high quality for the price. Many thanks in advance.

which seems to say that you can put in a single 2GB memory module but the system will only use a total of 2GB; the 512MB on board will be ignored. I have an X41t myself but have not yet tried to install a 2GB stick. Maybe some time in the future...

I put 2GB Kingston in my X41 recently, no problems at all. I think it's fairly low risk, I haven't read of many cases where it didn't work out. I went with Kingston as reading this forum showed it to be fairly proven.
