R50 & the Wi-fi Lan driver needed after XP re-install!

#1 Post by footsfitter » Mon May 11, 2009 11:10 am

Been throught this twice with this R50e................1st time just a fresh reinstall of XP 2 years ago, this time after replacing the 40GB HD with a 160GB Samsung HD.

Both times I have used the set of Lenovo rescue & recovery discs (had to get a set after R&R became corrupted & required the 1st re-install), after installation there has been the issue that the Wireless Lan can't be seen by XP.

Testing with diagnostics proves that its there and functioning and using the correct driver for "802.11b/g wireless mini PCI adaptor" (as fitted) fails to bring it to life. After much searching I found the reference again pointing out that what you really need is the driver for "Intel Pro/Wireless 2200bg card"
and bingo! problem resolved straight away

This is the link to the Intel networkconnection drivers- off to burn a cd to put with the R&R discs for next time

Hope this helps someone else, seen a lot in the same postion asking, but only one correct solution!
