problem extracting ibm files; no "extract to" *SOLVED*
problem extracting ibm files; no "extract to" *SOLVED*
I recently tried to reinstall some ultranav files that I dl from Lenovo for my T43. They were all .exe files, and according to the guidelines, they would open in 1 of 3 ways. The way they worked on the T43 was to double click and then a permission notice came up which you had to agree to, then the drivers or apps would install. Except after going thru that, nothing actually installed. The .txt files for each of these downloads (themselves separate downloads) specify that you have to right click on the .exe file first and "Extract to" a location, then execute the setup file. The odd thing is there is no "Extract" or "Extract to" available on my T43 which came preloaded with XP Pro SP3, when I right click. I had to move the files to my desktop (XP pro sp2) and extract them there, then move them back to the T43. This worked fine, but it took a load of headscratching to figure out. Does anyone know how to add the "extract to" option to my shell? As far as I know, the only zip/unzip program I have on the T43 is winrar. When I try to extract the ibm .exe files in that it says there is no archive.

Re: problem extracting ibm files; no "extract to" on T43 shell
Those IBM/Lenovo .exe files only extract to C:\DRIVERS\SOMETHING
Go to the \SOMETHING directory and doubleclick the SETUP.EXE file there to install.

Thanks for the suggestion. There was no C:\DRIVERS\SOMETHING folder created on my system.
I have solved the problem tho by installing 7-Zip, which I forgot was already on my desktop. It has added the "Extract Here" and "Extract Files.." that I needed to the rt click options.
